Alerts

The Alerts module allows you to view all alerts related to Devices or Assets triggered on the IoT Platform for your account. This guide will help you understand and utilize the features of the Alerts module effectively.

Overview

The Alerts module provides a comprehensive way to monitor and manage alerts triggered on the IoT Platform. It offers various filters based on categorizations defined at the Rule level (rule, category, level, tag) or at the triggered alert level (timestamp, tag). For more information about Rules, refer to the Rules module.

Viewing Alert Details

When editing an alert, you can view detailed information:

  • Context: The device or asset that triggered the alert.
  • Message: The description of the alert, as configured at the Rule level.
  • Note: A free text field to add user comments to the alert.
  • Status: Indicates whether the alert is Active or Archived.
  • Category Fields: The category-specific fields of the alert.
  • Input Tab: Displays the measurement details that caused the alert to trigger, along with the full context of the related device or asset at the time of the trigger.

Alert States

Alerts are initially not acknowledged when triggered, unless specified differently in the Rule (auto-acknowledge). Unread alerts are highlighted in bold.

When you acknowledge an alert, the date, time, and the user who performed the acknowledgment will be recorded in the alert.

Note: Alerts are automatically acknowledged each time a rule is updated.

Journal Tab Panel

Assets, devices, and smart devices offer a journal tab panel where all related alerts are listed.

Journal widget

The journal widget displays alerts based on your filter criteria and can dynamically inherit properties from the dashboard selectors.

By following this guide, you can effectively use the Alerts module to monitor and manage alerts on the IoT Platform.
