Pivot table

The Pivot table module is a simple analysis tool aimed at users who want to see their data from different angles.

It is sometimes necessary to explore a set of data by applying different reading levels to be able to extract relevant information. This is what the Pivot Table module allows, namely creating a data source, applying filters, groupings and transformations following a panel of dimensions such as periods, parents, etc.

The Pivot table module is accessible via the Asset Manager Reports module.

The first step is to define a source and choose the period and frequency of your data. To do this, you must select a set of data (e.g. daily electricity consumption of apartments in a building) over the last twelve months.

When this dataset is created, Pivot Table displays it along two axes whose representation is defined by a series of ordered dimensions. (e.g. year, month, days)

By default, we have defined that the vertical axis represents data sources (e.g. assets) and the horizontal axis represents time.

The Pivot Table module is a dynamic module that:

• offers different representation modes (table, bar char, heat map, etc.)
• offers a set of dimensions that define the analysis criteria (year, month, etc.)
• allows you to define grouping by dimension on a vertical and horizontal axis (parent> assets, year>month>day)
• allows you to apply a filter on each dimension by selecting the value domain for each of them. (year {2024, 2025})

By default, we chose

• as representation mode, Table mode with the Last value per period as value.
• that the horizontal axis represents time ordered by years, months, days
• that the vertical axis is the list of assets and their parents.

In Table mode the cells show the last value of the period, where the last column is the sum of values ​​in the row and where the last row is the sum of values ​​in the column. The cell in the last column and last row is the sum total.

How to use the Pivot table?

• To modify the analysis axes, you must either select a dimension among the available dimensions and add it to an axis at the desired position, or select a dimension from an axis and remove it from the dimensions of this axis by putting it back in the available dimensions. This manipulation leads to a re-evaluation of the initial data set to present it according to the new definition of the axes.

• To modify the value domain of a dimension, you must click on the arrow to the right of the name of a dimension. A dialog box displays all the domain values. There is a way to select or deselect all the values ​​in the domain or reduce all the values ​​in the domain and make a value selection one by one.

• To change the data representation mode, at the top left there are several selection boxes.
  • The first defines the representation mode (table, graph, etc.)
  • The second defines the aggregation mode. We mainly work with the “Last”
  • The third defines the value. We mainly work with “Value”

Then everything you could do in Pivot table is executed in the browser. If your initial dataset does not meet your expectations, you must create a new one and redo the selection of the data source, period and step.

It allows you to export the data set in Excel pivot table format.
